Book Review: Daoist Nei Gong

Daoist Nei Gong by Damo Mitchell, is a wonderful glimpse into the practice and art of Nei Gong.  The book takes you through both the philosophy, principle and practice of Nei Gong, giving you what you need to get started and how to get somewhere, what you look for on your journey, what to avoid, and what experiences you can expect.  Written by someone who seems to have gone through the practice and the experiences himself, it gives a first hand account of this art.

Book Review: Mysteries of the Life Force

Mysteries of the Life Force by Peter Meech.  This is another one of those books where the author writes about his apprenticeship with a master.  Very much like the Magus of Java, the author first sees his soon-to-be-master on a television program, but instead of a documentary on volcanoes, it was, "Ripley's Believe It or Not".  So impressed by the master's demonstration, Peter seeks out Dr. Chow, to learn of this mysterious power he has.  From there, we are led into the interesting world of chi, and the mysteries of this life force energy.

Book Review: The Magus of Strovolos

The Magus of Strovolos by Kyriacos C. Markides.  This book is about the authors exposure to a spiritual healer known in the book as Daskalos, who resides in Cyprus.  It covers many different paranormal abilities, as well as tries to outline much of these supernatural realms that lie just outside of our perception.  Delving into consciousness and it's inner workings, religion, and even touching on God himself.  The book tries to answer as many questions as possible, as the author takes you through his experiences with this healer.

Book Review: Opening the Dragon Gate

Opening the Dragon Gate by Chen Kaiguo and Zheng Shunchao and translated by Thomas Cleary.  The Making of a Modern Taoist Wizard was probably the part of the title that caught my attention with this book, so I gave it a look.  Before I got the book, I read some of the reviews and got to peek inside a bit to see what I was in for, and from what I got a chance to sample, I thought it was going to be great.  The book sounds like it's going to take you on an adventure into a whole other world, and do so from a very involved perspective.  Allowing you to see the process in true detail.

Book Review: Taoist Sexual Meditation

Taoist Sexual Meditation by Bruce Frantzis.  This was another book that was recommended to me, and I have to admit, the title threw me a bit.  When it was recommended to me, it was for the information within, and the practices, and principles.  It took me a while to work up the courage to buy this book, mostly because of the many people that would see it on it's way to my house, and I figured they'd get the wrong impression.  But as it turns out, it was worth it.

Book Review: Qigong Meditation

Qigong Meditation Embryonic Breathing by Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming.  This was a book that was recommended to me, and since I had nothing else at the time on my reading list, I gave this book a shot.  The book is about 348 pages long, and is a sizable read.  It tries to be very in-depth with it's information as well as it's principles, theories and practices.  The primary concern in the book is health, how to recover it, manage it, and improve it.  It sets out to give you practices to improve your health, as well as the information needed to understand what you're doing and why.

Book Review: Kundalini Rising

This book in particular, Kundalini Rising by Barbara Condron, caught my attention because of the title.  Kundalini has been an interest of mine for some time now.  So when I saw this book, I thought it may be one of those unassuming diamonds in the rough.  I was in a bookstore searching for anything that might catch my attention, when this one did just that.  Before I buy any book, I have to be able to read some of it in order to judge the contents for myself, which I did.  As I thumbed through it, I thought this book may have it all, from meditation, to chakras, to energy work, to of course, kundalini.

Book Review: Nei Kung

This book is more or less the sequel to the Magus of Java, titled Nei Kung by Kosta Danaos.  After reading the Magus of Java, I had to read more.  And when I found out Kosta had written another book on the subject, I had to get it to see if there would be more information on the subject.  Any and all information at that point was a must.  I was effectively hooked on exploring more into this world and it's wonders.  So what exactly does Nei Kung have to offer?

Book Review: The Magus of Java

Put simply, this is probably my favorite book, ever!  Out of all the books I've read, this book has several things going for it that others that I've read, just doesn't have.  I'm not even sure where to begin.  It's the story of the author, Kosta Danaos, and his journey and apprenticeship under an experienced master, John Chang, in the art of Nei Kung, or internal martial arts.  His journey leads past conventional understanding of the world, and well into ancient wisdom, once thought long forgotten, and into potential, that most don't even believe they have!

Power of Meditation!

Last time I talked a bit about how to meditate, and explained a little on how simple it was, and what meditation is for.  Chi is another topic I discuss a little bit here, and meditation is of primary importance if one wishes to embark on a path to acquiring chi.  A little while ago, a ran across a couple of videos that I would like to share that goes a little deeper into the relationship between meditation and energy.

The Power of Chi!

You've probably heard of the concept of Chi.  It is the energy that makes up and sustains all things.  And according to philosophy, it is vital to your well being.  However it is believed that through certain practices and disciplines, one can learn to harness this amazing energy, and learn to use it, then the impossible would open up to them and become possible.

Intelligent Design!

In my last post we discussed a little bit on Atheism, the Multiverse and Evolution, and some of my questions regarding these so called, natural processes.  At this point you can probably guess, if you haven't already, that I don't believe in multiple universes or that evolution is a dumb, automatic process that guessed its way to success.  Mostly because when you actually look at the universe, and how fine tuned it is, then some intelligence guiding things is the simplest answer that accounts for the most.  You might recognize it as Occam's Razor.

The Mystery of the Disappearing Tumor!?

A while ago, a video made rounds on the internet that has sparked some controversy.  The video shows a tumor disappearing via energy healing, in under 2 minutes.  Although it is already quite popular, I had not seen it before until today, so, it's new to me, and quite interesting.  With this video, and videos like this one, the same old controversy arrives.  "It's Real!", "No!  It's Fake!", blah blah, and then there's some insults thrown, maybe a rubber ducky, and the kitchen sink, and later, the towel as neither side gets through to the other.  Who would've guessed it...

Is this Real or Fake?

A Chinese man uses chi energy to move some bricks, brakes a bottle and moves a bowl of water across the table.  It's pretty popular, so you may have seen it before.  It's been passed around both as proof of chi energy, and as evidence of fraud.  I have seen things moved around with chi or telekinesis that I personally do not believe to be fraudulent; however this is a bit bigger of a demonstration, which also has an air of suspicion surrounding it.

Is it really Chi? Or just Air?

The video below is from a friend of mine.  I have seen him do this over skype for me.  He simply sets up this half folded sheet of tinfoil, and then seems to direct chi energy at it, and it moves.  He sets it up, takes a few steps back, moves his arms around a bit, and seemingly directs chi energy at it.  But because he moves his arms around, I can't rule out that it isn't air that he is pushing along.
