Intelligent Design!

In my last post we discussed a little bit on Atheism, the Multiverse and Evolution, and some of my questions regarding these so called, natural processes.  At this point you can probably guess, if you haven't already, that I don't believe in multiple universes or that evolution is a dumb, automatic process that guessed its way to success.  Mostly because when you actually look at the universe, and how fine tuned it is, then some intelligence guiding things is the simplest answer that accounts for the most.  You might recognize it as Occam's Razor.

Let's take a quick look at maybe why this makes sense.  When we look at the universe, we see how well it works, and how needed everything is, and how fine tuned it is.  All of it seems pretty aimed at creating life.  So what if, instead of multiple universes taking their chances, how about the universe itself is intelligent.  A sort of ambient intelligent that is guiding things along.  For simplicity's sake, we can call this God.  Then the fine tuned universe makes a bit more sense, especially if the universe isn't as stupid as we thought.

Although, if you can, try and imagine this intelligence as not quite the same as our intelligence.  You might liken it by comparing dogs to us, and then maybe us to it.  Like it's energy that's smart, that's every where, all the time, and maybe from the outside, in, and then operates from there.  With this concept, it makes a bit more sense how well everything worked out, and why in the end, life was formed.  Because maybe it knew where it wanted to go.

So with that in mind, evolution also makes a bit more sense as well.  Especially when species at a time decide to evolve.  Because the information required to evolve, is not stored inside of them, but outside of them, in this intelligence.  Because this intelligent energy comes from the outside in, the evolution starts outside, and then nature makes its leap forward.  This solves the issue of either individual animals or species as a whole evolving, and may give a reason why they have stopped evolving.  Because why not just keep going if your the poor little rabbit?  Unless nature knows the importance of the little rabbit and where it is in the food chain.

This also solves why and how a single cell divided.  It more or less was told to by nature.  And why everything seems aimed towards life, and even maybe why we ended up the way we are today.  Think about it.  Some will point out planets that have no life and ask what their purpose is, but we don't know all that much about the rest of space yet, so we don't know yet.  But also, we can just look here.  Human existence is more then mere chance.  If it was then it was very strange.  Planets, solar systems, dark energy, to, countries, government, religion, TV shows and computers?  Kind of odd to have dumb matter make dumb animals then smart people that discovered that there is an order to the universe and how everything has its place?  Can I can say pretty certainly if everything was dumb, there would be no science.

Now, this intelligent energy I refer to as God, not necessarily because I believe that he/she/it is God, but mostly because it is easiest.  When people ask if I believe in God, I simply say yes and spare them the intelligent energy speech.  However, I do think my theory on intelligent energy is incomplete and there may be some perceivable entity at the head of it.  There still is more to it then just the concept I've presented here.

Also, I'm not against science at all.  In-fact I think science and spirituality are essentially the same thing.  I think a lot of this tension stems from science looking for the unexplainable as evidence for the spiritual.  But when you look at the evidence, intelligent design screams back at us.  But the kicker is, we can explain it, so we throw the baby out with the bath water.  I still find it amazing that we CAN explain it, and that there IS a process to explain.  Its interesting when you really think about it.

Lastly is God itself.  I don't wish to step on anyone's toes with this last one so please forgive me if it offends you.  God according to the bible is unfathomable, right?  We can't possibly accurately imagine him, because well, he is God right?  Yet we do imagine him, either as an old man, robe, beard, throne, etc, or as Jesus.  Why though?  I think we a long time ago, we conceptualized God.  Created an imagine of him, maybe even a personality, and a few other things.  We did this because praying to something that we can't fathom was very difficult, because it didn't feel personal.  But if we could picture him, then he becomes more accessible, more personal, and therefore more powerful.

However, this old image hasn't changed for many, many years now.  We sort of stubbornly hold on to this image because we have grown so accustomed to it.  But we as a people have grown a lot over those years.  We know more now, and I think our idea of God should expand with our knowledge base.

Also, if God is intelligent, why wouldn't he create an explanation for things?  He is smarter then us after all...
