Is there a Soul?

Not a very uncommon question.  I think most people, myself included, have pondered whether or not the Soul exists.  This is by no means a small or easy question.  For some, the answer is clearly a "Yes" or a "No".  I personally lean more towards a Yes, although it is not a definitive Yes.  You could say I am searching for the Holy Grail of evidence for the Soul.  Which I haven't found yet.... yet.

Though I believe in the soul, I can also understand why someone would want to.  Life is all we know, and it seems so short the older you get.  To think, we somehow blink into this conscious state, to live, play, work, feel and experience, only for it be some grand, happy mistake, and none of it means anything at all, is hard to swallow.  But, once the soul enters the picture, purpose and meaning begin to arise, as well as a continued existence after 'death'.

We turn to science (it being our newest religion and all) for answers.  But we get mixed answers here.  In short, all we know is something is going on, we don't know what, and we are far from understanding it, but that doesn't mean evidence for the soul, so until it's proven to exist, it must not exist.  Another way of putting it would be, the soul is Schrodinger's cat, in the box.  Except in this case, instead of meeting in the middle, where the soul, at least 'may' exist, they round down to zero and say, 'it does not'.

Science is like 99% based on the physical reality around us.  It's what we can see and touch, hear, taste and smell.  Sometimes we need to use instruments to do these things, such as inferred or particles and atoms, but in the end, one of our senses picks it up.  The soul then would be one giant upheaval to almost everything that we know.  Probably in more ways then I'm aware of.  You see, the very existence of the soul would challenge everything from Darwin, to the purpose of an atom, to chemical and biological processes, to hell, even the moon landing!  Just about everything would be in the cross-hairs at that point.

Come to think of it, it might be in science's best interests if the soul didn't exist.  But the question remains, does it?

I should have pointed out that not all scientists stand against the existence of the soul, it just didn't quite fit into my little half-rant above.  Anyways, the video above... is a bit confusing.  But suggests that the soul, might in-fact exist.  Maybe not exactly the way we wish it to be, or perceive to be, but still, something.

As I ran across this video, I also stumbled upon one on reincarnation.  I've seen it a time or two before and it has definitely peaked my interest.  Mostly whether or not it's fake, but also for the possibilities.  If you haven't seen it before, take a look.

Either A.) the whole thing is a nice fake segment for some ratings, or B.) it's real, and HOLY CRAP THERE'S A SOUL AND AN AFTERLIFE!!!  ftw?!

Life will be like a video game.  You can die, but you'll just come back!
